Paris to Australia back to Canada

Soul Story time…

Forever ago when I was living in Paris, I semi rescued a young French Canadian to be my roomie whilst she studied and inhaled Parisian lifestyle. She was such a gorgeous to soul and ridiculously talented, especially at drawing/ creating – so of course we got on like a house on fire.

When she sadly has to return to Canada, she had sooooo much stuff to lug home, that certain items had to be tossed aside, one being her beautiful study sketch book. I argued with her she had to take it but she said her luggage had reached its limit.
.
Fast forward 13 plus years later, while cleaning out my studio – I stumbled across her beautiful sketch book, which I had secretly saved from our tiny French apt bin and lugged back to Australia.
As much as I loved and admired looking through it, I decided it was time to let it go and reunite it with its rightful owner…

Oh to be a fly on the wall when Anissa Zabala received her special package – I’m told there were tears as she flicked through the pages, each one unlocking wonderful memories from many moons ago…
.
Anyways she had her revenge not so long ago – I received a very special Chrissy card and hand drawn birthday card.
(it took a while as my address had changed from the one she had sent it to, but it still found me in the end…)
I’m going to highly embarrass her now by reading out a part of her letter – which made me choke up and cry… 🙏🏻🥹❤️✨

The power of pen, paper, letters, memories – never underestimate how much they can mean to your loved ones and to simply someone you’ve only just met…

And for those who know me well – they know me NOT to be a fan of crocs!!!! So cheers to your cheeky drawing Anissa 🤣😜🤦🏼‍♀️
There’s a long time running joke between a handful of us, the frogs and the kangas! Clearly Anissa is ‘pro’ crocs – whatever?!!?? lucky I still love her…
